HA-HA Garden Wall
THE HA-HA GARDEN WALL An interesting type of wall, found most often in the South, is the so-called ha-ha. This is usually a brick retaining wall, without parapet, about 4 feet high, used to separate fields, where stock may graze, from the lawns and gardens. If a natural slope from the house exists, the ha-ha is set into it, is practically invisible from above; it does not break a view, but is an effective barrier. Sometimes on level land the grade is raised on the inside of the ha-ha to its top, to hide it from the house and make the greensward seem continuous.
